As I come across good clips, I’ll add them here.
A friend of mine from the accordion club lent me a documentary on how the older polka generation is passing the tradition to the youth…. community working as community can and should. Featured in the video is a “Concertina Bar” in Milwaukee. Wisconsin is a quirky place. The owner of this bar would not let his nephew play a piano accordion at the bar, but he did let a guitar player play there…. is this some sort of message about Wisconsin’s brand of “tolerance” for all people… or just their form of joking…. I wonder if a banjo player or bagpipe player has tried to play at “The Concertina Bar” I’d love to hear the outcome…. (-:
The original posts of the “Accordion Sightings in the Weekend” occured circa 1990 from my firstname.lastname@example.org account. I posted them to the usenet group rec.music.makers.squeezebox. You can search for “accordion sightings weekend larson” within that group to find the old posts. I still play accordion…. I definitely see accordions out and about…. and my beautiful wife, “Flamin’ Cajun’ Susan” helps me spot them whenever she can, too. Here is today’s find from Susan…. a true beauty.
